Retro vibes mixed with innovative cuisine isn’t the easiest combination to pull off but New Wave Burritos owners Nate Sturdevant and Matt Philip make cooking the best burritos in town look easy. Last year the two business partners upgraded their brain child New Wave Burritos from a late night delivery service to a dine-in restaurant (don’t worry guys they still deliver).
The new location at 3311 Preston Highway, formerly the home of Grind Burger, has been decked out in the traditional new wave style of the 80s. The eclectic decor, pinball machines and old school record player complete the laid back vibe of this unique restaurant that would make anyone from the B-52s to Joy Division feel at home. Decor aside though New Wave Burritos has some seriously delicious concoctions in their repertoire including The Tourist (Ancho roasted chicken, black beans, rice, crunchy slaw, Monterrey jack cheese, and green onions) and The Basher (Coconut adobo braised pork, black beans, rice, fajita vegetables, Monterrey jack cheese, and green onions), and if they don’t have something you like (you’re crazy) wait a week, their menu is always changing. Also make sure to check out their new beer delivery service.
