Louisville newest music festival PeteFest is about more than just providing the best lineup of local artist, it also aims to promote awareness of mental health and suicide prevention. For Michelle Jones, the founder and director of the nonprofit The Pete Foundation, the mission of Pete Fest is deeply personal. Jones, her siblings and her mother started The Pete Foundation in 2016 after the loss of her brother Pete Jones to suicide. The mission of The Pete Foundation and Pete Fest is “to remove the stigma surrounding mental illness so that people can identify it in themselves and others, and reach out for help when they need it.”
With a lineup of big name musicians like Dr. Dundiff and The Delta Saints the first Pete Fest drew large crowds and saw a massive grassroots support for the important cause. Pete Fest takes place in early September at Jones Fields, 8401 Dawson Hill Road.
